Historie brandu Dickies sahá až do roku 1922, kdy tehdy jako WILLIAMSON - DICKIE začínala v texaském Fort Worthu. Původně to byla fabrika na montérky, ale nakonec se stala největším výrobcem pracovního oblečení na světě. Prostě oblečení, které má výdrž a snese i to nejtvrdší zacházení.

Až postupem času se produkce rozdělila na dvě odnože, kdy první stále zastupuje klasický americký work wear a druhá produktová řada se zaměřuje na street wear kolekce pro každodenní nošení. To se stalo moderním a stylovým oblečením současnosti.

Zhruba kolem roku 1990 se značka Dickies stala populární mezi americkou mládeží. Robustní design a funkčnost oblečení si nejprve oblíbila subkultura skateboardistů a z Dickies se postupně stala kultovní módní značka. Pro značku to byl nečekaný, ale samozřejmě velmi vítaný trend, který se později rozšířil i do Evropy, kde popularita značky mezi mladými lidmi pokračuje dodnes.
