Psal se rok 1983 a tři kámoši Richard Novak, Doug Haut a Jay Shuirman založili společnost NHS Santa Cruz Skateboards. Legendární značka pojmenovaná podle samotné kolébky boardingových sportů, kalifornského města Santa Cruz. Společnost byla tehdy jedinou svého druhu. Dnes je nejstarší skateboardingovou značkou na světě. Santa Cruz je známý především díky svým skvělým designům. Později začali produkovat i snowboardové vybavení, kde se drželi old school grafiky, kterou používali na svoje skateboardy. Dnes se zaměřují hlavně na výrobu skateboardových desek, cruiserů, longboardů ale také oblečení, které si nyní můžete koupit na Snapbacks.

Zajímavost: K logu Screaming Hands se váže skvělá historka. Když designér Jim Phillips vytvářel loga pro Santa Cruz, tak ho strašně bolela ruka. Nenapadlo ho nic jiného, než tuhle bolest ztvárnit na papír a legendární design Screaming Hand byl na světě.
